Faux Dimensional Embossing. This video today will show you how to achieve a dimensional look to your embossing quite easily and add a bit of WOW factor to your card. Here’s one of the cards:

Stamp your sentiment as in the video then choose your Layering Framelit which best fits and another to layer behind it. It doesn’t have to be square. It can be Oval, Circle or you could use the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies and a Layering Square, Oval or Circle as another alternative.

This card has the sentiment piece placed on an angle with some of the gorgeous Organza Ribbon tied in a bow beneath it and small flowers stamped on the card base. Here’s a closer look at the sentiment piece:

My cards have been stamped tone on tone and then with Versamark and Clear Emboss Powder which I have found to give you the best outcome for this technique.
I think you can see the Faux Dimensional Embossing clearer in the above photo.

Perfume Anyone?

Perfume Anyone? Again, this card was part of a class using the Lift Me Up Stamp Set and Up & Away Thinlit Dies. This time we used the Thinlit Dies to create a perfume atomiser for a birthday card. It’s always good to try different ways of using dies and worth ‘thinking outside the box’ to see what you can come up with.

Perfume Anyone?

We made the tassel from Thick Baker’s Twine and adhered it to the card front. We also used some Burlap Ribbon which was cut in half length ways.

As we’ve used Basic Black for the card base we used Whisper White inside the card. We’ve embossed the sentiment and the small ‘pump’ which is the smaller of the balloons in the Lift Me Up stamp set.

It’s an inventive way to use the stamp set and thinlit dies, don’t you think?

Freshly Brewed Projects with Masks

Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Blog Hop. This week the Latte Girls are looking at Freshly Brewed Projects with Masks. Now I must warn you, using masks can be extremely addictive. I thought I’d make just 1 card today but ended up with loads of samples to do video techniques on. These will start at the beginning of July, so make sure you subscribe to my YouTube Channel so you don’t miss anything.

Freshly Brewed Projects with Masks

Now this was my very first try at using the Embossing Pastes and one of the masks. It was so easy. Load up your pallet knife, wipe on and wipe off. Clean up with a baby wipe or water.

Freshly Brewed Projects with Masks 1

So, apart from the Masks, you can purchase Pallet Knives and Embossing Paste as well. The uses are enormous as it dries quickly and cleans up with water. Use Masks on all your paper crafts including cards, gift boxes, scrapbook pages and more. Here’s my card for today’s Freshly Brewed Projects with Masks blog hop.

Freshly Brewed Projects with Masks 2

Any day ending in ‘Y’ is a perfect day to be having coffee. However, I’m sending this to a friend and hope it cheers her up.

I’ve stamped the lid in Versamark and used White Emboss Powder. The sentiment is punched with the Pretty Label Punch.

Come back again next week.

Make sure you stop by Leonie’s blog to see what she has shared today. Narelle is still interstate with family and we keep her in our thoughts.

Black Magic Technique

Black Magic Technique.  This is an easy technique which is very effective for all types of cards but particularly lends itself to masculine cards I think.

Black Magic Technique

This technique also works well with flowers so try it with a few different images and stamp sets along with of course your Watercolor Pencils from Stampin’ Up! Watch the video to see more:

Don’t miss another video, subscribe today. YouTube Subscribe Banner Thank you for subscribing. I appreciate your support.
Just a few tips:
  • Make sure your pencils are nice and sharp
  • Try and work on the images in the centre of the card and work your way to the outside
  • Turn your card so the images to be coloured are closest to you
  • Sometimes it helps to work with a piece of scrap paper under your hand you use for colouring so you don’t rub pencil off with your hand.

Here’s a closer look at the card in the video:

Black Magic Technique 1

Measurements (Imperial and Metric):

  • Tent fold card measuring 29.6cm x 10.5cm or 11″ x 4 1/4″
  • Layer 1 – 14.3cm x 10cm or 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Layer 2 – 13.8cm x 9,5cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″

I hope you give this technique a try. It’s a bit of fun and you can achieve some amazing effects. Here’s a look at both the cards side by side:

RemARKably Creative Blog Tour

RemARKably Creative Blog Tour. I’m so pleased to be able to join in this international blog tour. I’m sure you’ll be inspired by all the projects you see using new products from the 2017 – 2018 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. Today my project focuses on the Coffee Café bundle. Here’s the bundle:

Coffee Café Bundle

Now those of you who know me, know I’m partial to the odd coffee or two so of course this bundle just yelled at me ‘buy me’. As I’m in the process of packing up my home of almost 38 years and moving a little further north on the coast, I haven’t had a lot of spare time to play. However, I do try and squeeze in a little time each day. So here’s my card:

Coffee Café

I’ve used a few new products on the card:

  • Ruffled Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder
  • Berry Burst 1/2″ Woven Ribbon
  • Berry Burst Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • A4 Card Stock Berry Burst

Here’s a little look at the Coffee Café pieces: Coffee Café 1

Don’t you just love the little coffee beans? I also love that the bundle includes a ‘sleeve’ which embosses and cuts at the same time. Here’s another look at the suite:

Stella Blooms with Pencils

Stella Blooms with Pencils. This is a beautiful technique using a Clear Wink of Stella and Watercolor Pencils to add a wonderful glitter effect to your cards.

Laying Down Colour Birthday

Laying Down Colour Birthday This video will show you how to use your Blender Pen to lay down colour and to mix colours on an image which will add depth and interest.

Laying Down Colour Birthday

I’ve used the Birthday Blooms stamp set and this technique will work well with most open type images. I have hand cut (fussy cut) the image and adhered it using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Watch the video to see how to do this technique.

A Special Vase of Flowers

A Special Vase of Flowers This is another in my series on the Up & Away Thinlit dies and what you can make using this product. This card was also part of a class and the ladies thoroughly enjoyed using the product in varying ways. Combining the Thinlit Dies with Jar of Love for the flowers and sentiment have made this quite an easy card to make.

Vase Up & Away

The largest die cut hot air balloon from the Up & Away Thinlit Dies in Dapper Denim. We stamped our ‘bunch’ of flowers using the images from Jar of Love, then added the hot air balloon die cut upside down to form a vase. We finished it off with some Sweet Sugarplum ribbon (retired). You could use any of our beautiful Stampin’ Up! ribbons to complete this project.

Freshly Brewed Gift Bag

Freshly Brewed Gift Bag This week the Latte Girls are bring you projects using the Gift Bag Punch Board. I’ve been able to use 3 of my favourite products this week:

I hope you hop along this week and check out all the inspiration on the blogs involved.

Freshly Brewed Gift Bag

I made a large Gift Bag and used a piece of DSP which was 12″ x 10 1/2″. Then scored another 1 1/2″ down from top edge and folded it over to make a cuff. You can see a Video of how to make one here.

Of course I had to use the new set Coffee Café and made the little coffee cup with a ‘thank you’ on it. So here’s a closer view:

Freshly Brewed Gift Bag Tag

The Gift Bag Punch Board has a 1/4″ circle hole punch in the back of it and that’s what I used to make it look like a tag. There’s enough room on the back of it to write a brief message. I tried to give it a water colour wash look by stamping off on my Grid Paper using varying pressure. I also used Shimmery White card and a Clear Wink of Stella Pen along the edges for some shading and extra glitter.
